He said his record in his previous roles as chief executive of NAB and Bank of NZ showed he is “inclusive and welcoming, caring and diverse”.
Thorburn joined City on a Hill in 2014 and was appointed to its board two years ago. He suggested the church has a broad range of views on the divisive societal issues.
“I understand that some of these views, and I’ll come to them, are offensive to some people and upset people and I really respect that,” he said.
“Firstly, my faith is a very personal thing. I think my faith has helped me become a better leader because at the centre of my faith is the belief that you should create community and care for people and help people be safe and respect them as humans.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Zero Hanger spoke with Jason Tuazon-McCheyne, the Founder and Co-President of ‘Purple Bombers’ – Essendon’s official LGBTIQ+ Supporter Group – who contented that both roles could not be maintained in good faith.
“Our first response is that it’s incredibly disappointing, and a bad call for us,” Tuazon-McCheyne said.
“The issue for us is that he is the chair of another organisation that actually campaigns and works against LGBTIQ+ people. That is a fact.
“He needs to resign from that role if he is going to be the CEO of the Essendon Football club.”
In a communication to Zero Hanger this evening, Tuazon-McCheyne expressed relief following Thorburn’s resignation.
“I honestly thought he’d choose the club before his church, but he made the right decision as the values do not sync between the two organisations.”
Bombers President Barham went on to state that “discrimination based on race, sex, religion, gender, sexual identity or orientation, or physical or mental disability” before stressing that neither he nor the board was “aware of the comments from the 2013 sermon until we read about them this morning.”
Note that this former banking executive was not fired for his beliefs. He was fired because of something written on a website in 2013. It was not written by him. The website was not controlled by him. He was still punished for it.
He then doubled down on being a cuck and released this statement:
“Over the past 24 hours, I have received hundreds of messages of support and would like to thank all of those people, from a diversity of faiths and beliefs, who have reached out to me,” Mr Thorburn said in a new statement on Wednesday.
“Concerningly, many messages expressed genuine worry for jobs and employment prospects due simply to faith. I believe that there are many Australians who fear the implications for their livelihoods, aspirations and participation in community life.
“It is troubling that faith or association with a church, mosque, synagogue or temple could render a person immediately unsuited to holding a particular role. That is a dangerous idea, one that will only reduce tolerance for others and diversity of thought and participation in our community and workplaces,” he said.
“True tolerance, inclusion and diversity also includes people of faith.
“Freedoms of thought, conscience, religion and association are fundamental human rights, explicitly recognised in Victorian law in our Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities and Racial and Religious Tolerance Act.
“I genuinely and passionately believe people can hold different views on complex personal and moral matters while being able to live and work together respectfully and harmoniously. That is true inclusion whereby our communities are enriched by difference.”
I’ll break down the massive amounts of cuck and stupid and statist in this statement for you.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews – a paid-up Essendon club member – had earlier on Tuesday said that Bombers fans had another reason to be “somewhat disappointed” with the club, describing the church’s views as “absolutely appalling”, “hatred” and “bigotry”.

Federal opposition leader Peter Dutton has urged Labor to condemn Essendon for its “egregious attack on an individual because of his religious beliefs” amid renewed calls for religious freedom protections.
Mr Dutton warned of a return to the 1950s where “you had ads for jobs which expressly said, you know, ‘Catholics and Jews need not apply’”.
But Mr Andrews rejected any suggestion that people might need to hide their religious beliefs to take on a public role.
“No, they might want to have a think about whether they should be perhaps a bit more kind-hearted, a bit more inclusive,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
“Aren’t we all God’s children? Like, seriously, seriously, there’s no place for bigotry. There’s no place for stigmatising people.”
First point. Had they announced before hiring Thorburn that supporting fags and abortion was a requirement to hold the job everyone could have been saved time and money.
After all, job advertisements can open say “only women and POX will be hired.” Why not publish a list of the “opinions” a job candidate must and must not have. It would save everyone time and money.
And in one of the most Orwellian statements I’ve read lately…

You can be a Christian and have a job. So long as you’re a fag and baby killer worshipping Christian.
Never forget, Christcucks wanted big government, the wanted corporations, they wanted women to vote, they wanted immigration, they wanted affirmative action, they wanted hate crime legislation, and they wanted gay marriage. I know exactly why their being persecuted. And there is a whole lot more where this came from.
Just like women, the Christcucks can not comprehend that their actions and inactions have consequences.
