An ancillary to these politicians are the popular YouTube celebrities Lauren Southern, Brittany Pettibone, and Faith J. Goldy. These American women are three reasonably attractive – though by no means stunning – celebrities of the hard right.

Their popularity lies mostly in their YouTube productions, and they attract – simply by being reasonably attractive women – considerable audiences for their videos, sometimes running into the tens of thousands.

Their topics tend to be the familiar talking points of the alt right or new hard right that has emerged in recent years: the decline of the West, the migration crisis in Europe, America’s changing demographics, the challenge of militant Islamism, and a general concern for what might be termed “white identity”. Their work ranges from reportage to analysis to semi-candid videos of their own lives and adventures.

These women should not really be understood politically, even though politics is their purported topic. They are electric geishas, not serious political commentators. This phenomenon, the electric geisha, is not confined to the political entertainment genre. It is, rather, a new part of our increasingly atomised and technologically dependent existence.

The Internet is awash with reasonably attractive young women who cultivate a client base of men bereft of female emotional attention. These women play video games, talk about comics, or talk about politics. Their male audience clog the comment sections with appreciative remarks or comments aimed at gaining attention from the maiden, who is, quite naturally, treated with the sort of quasi-religious reverence that is accorded to an idealised celebrity of any type. The girl’s self-regard is subject to endless virtual strokes and her bank balance grows with her audience.

We are aware, now more than ever, that the news – the official news – is a performance. The geisha girls merely do at a less sophisticated level what CNN and the BBC do with finesse.

They would be better off starting a family than “saving the West”, but I suspect – given the nature of our fragmented society – the drive towards ever greater loneliness and rancorous pseudo-politics will only continue.

Upon perusing Ms. Robb’s prior work at Marie Claire, The Guardian and with The Investigative Fund of The Nation Magazine, which focused on baby-killing tips and Ms. Robb’s personal experiences with extensive plastic surgery, I could only conclude Ms. Robb must be undoubtedly amongst the finest of politically axe-grinding journalists working in stale Boomer left-wing pop music magazines today.

I explained to Ms. Robb that I have retired to the quiet life of a simple gentleman farmer, knew and cared little about comic books, and did not seek further attention from the media-propaganda complex.

I further explained that I considered her employers and her “profession” (such that it is) to be distasteful at best and criminal at worst, and that I expected she might not have the best of intentions toward me given my knowledge about how modern journalism is done and my past experiences being a subject of the yellow press. I directly and forthrightly informed Ms. Robb that I considered her to be my enemy and refused to help her.

Ms. Robb, however, was not to be discouraged by any such declaration.

The notion that activism is the path to power is not just wrong, it is fully backwards. It confuses cause and effect. Arab migrants in Germany are allowed to grope women and steal iPhones from the locals. They do not do it in spite of the police and government, they do it thanks to the police and government. German right-wingers are not allowed to publicly demonstrate they exist, or that they oppose the state-imposed campaign of Arab rape and theft. This conundrum is not accidental, it is intentional.

As long as I can remember, the media has been claiming that there are Nazis, fascists, and religious right-wing theocrats hiding in every closet and under every bed, just waiting for somebody to express an opinion that was in vogue 30 years ago but horribly unfashionable now, at which point all these Nazis, fascists and religious right-wing theocrats would jump out and reveal themselves, impose a totalitarian government, and kill just about everybody. This would be horribly offensive to women and minorities, and therefore unacceptable. I would not recommend potential right-wing activists take the media’s word for it, however.

The media’s business model depends on printing comfortable and popular lies, and it is therefore full of society’s best liars.

The media does not stop lying when it claims there are brownshirts under your bed just waiting to suddenly return and attempt a Fourth Reich. In reality, there are no powerful right-wing institutions, few if any powerful people who are openly right-wing, and no powerful right-wing political parties on the cusp of seizing power. But if the ordinary person realized and internalized that fact, there would be no need for the radically left-wing parties masquerading as level-headed moderates that rule Western countries nowadays.
