Katherine Bennett, 21, was eventually convicted for lying to Windsor Police when she claimed Dustin Toth kidnapped and raped her. Last year, Toth, now 26, spent the day before Thanksgiving in jail.

That same day, Bennett was called in for questioning.

“Right now the statements I’ve been given don’t match evidence,” the investigator told Bennett, adding that Toth could spend 30 years to life in prison for the crimes she accused him of.

“There are some things that aren’t exactly clear to me and might not be exactly true,” Bennett told the investigator. “But did he violently rape me, yes.”

When the investigator continued to bring up problems with Bennett’s story she said, “It’s fine, I’ll drop all charges.”

Toth’s police interview from that same day shows him breaking down and crying. He explained to police he was friends with Bennett from work and they had consensual sex.

Bennett, engaged at the time, went to the hospital and claimed she was assaulted. Her fiancé was also interviewed by police.

Toth said Wednesday that, one year later, his life still feels out of his control.

“Bennett changed her story more than once, and that’s the only thing that saved my life,” Toth said.

The Army National Guardsman was fired from his civilian job and couldn’t find another for nearly six months. He said he’s been behind on his car payment ever since, and is fighting to keep the car from being re-possessed.

He said emotional pain rivals those financial problems.

“I feel like I’m incapable to actually trust a woman again,” Toth said. “I try to every day; I want to.”

There are other reasons, of course, to counsel White daughters against dating googles. The IQ difference will mean stupider kids that can’t compete as well in a modren economy; the propensity of google males to express their love with fists and chokeholds; the behavioral profiles that don’t align and will gradually erode the intimacy necessary to build a long term relationship. And then there’s the fact that it’s a low class decision for the White woman in all but a few rare instances.

But really the most palpably heartfelt reason is the aesthetics. We are hard-wired to prefer family members, children, and grandchildren who look like us.

We should start our thinking with the knowledge that human beings are generally flaky and dishonest. They are not malevolently so, but evil rarely is malevolent so much as both delusional and self-interested to an extreme. They are simply taking the path of least resistance in belief and choosing whatever makes them feel most mentally comfortable about their situation in life.

Even worse, this situation only becomes exacerbated by humans forming into groups.

In groups, humans defer to whatever keeps other people pacified, which in turn represents the simplest and easiest ideal held in common by most people in the group: the lowest common denominator. When this simplistic idea becomes commonly held, it is turned into ideology, or something you must believe to be part of the group.

Ideology favors pleasant-sounding things with negative long-term consequences. People like to believe that pacifism, equality, and brotherhood can be made real because they are a human intent shared by the group, but this forgets that life is formed of cause-effect relationships where no action is also its result. This means that just intending something is not enough. It must be brought into being through another method.

For this reason, it is insane to trust government, which is what people create to implement ideology. Government is the worst of the individual, amplified by the group, and given power over us through its presumed goodness and necessity. Every society that pursues ideology in this way finds itself in a state of collapse relatively quickly.

But then I got to thinking: obviously we have bombed Muslim countries. We dropped quite a few on Iraq–and for what? For Freedom? For Democracy?

We didn’t want to convert Iraq to Christianity (not the vast majority of us, anyway.) We wanted to convert Iraq to democracy.

You know, we destroyed a perfectly innocent country–killed thousands of people–and we barely feel a pang of remorse. Why? Because we did it to help them?

We though they’d be happier if they just lived in a democracy, just like your office mate with the Chick Tracts thinks you’ll be happier if you just accept Jesus as your savior and Muslims think you’ll be happier if you become a Muslim.

Christianity and Islam (or certain branches of Islam) are not at war. They can’t be at war because Christianity isn’t fighting.

Not in the West, anyway. Maybe in the Philippines or South America or somewhere, but certainly not in the West.
