Climate change gives government a huge blank cheque. It can justify not only whatever expenditures, but whatever restrictions on its citizens, that it wants to. It can expand to meet this new threat like it successfully fought drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and rinderpest.
It can do this because once enough people are raving on about something and will not stop, government has enough support to do whatever it wants in order to end the panic. We saw this with COVID-19, but it also applies to the Satanic Panic in the 1980s and the Black church burning panic of the Clinton years.
The thing about mass trends is that they are binaries. That is, there are two options: either you are for it or against it. Thoughts such as “I’m undecided” or “We need more data” are rejected with the same fervor by which Christianity is rejected by atheists and that Christians use to reject atheists.
The fiction they rely on is not meritocracy but consent. You are assumed to agree with whatever the elections decide even though most of the voters are barely mentally there. Therefore, if they get ahead, you were the one who pulled a chair up to the craps table and lost.
Bureaucrats love “education” because it selects for the obedient above all else, the right-thinking next, and distantly, talent. Many of the smartest people you will know in life have dropped out of school after seeing it as the hoop-jumping exercise that it is.
To be “educated,” you must be liberal and for the most part atheistic. You must believe in “science” that consists of finding correlations among the cherry picked data and rationalizing inverse causality as causality. You must be interested in the current intellectual fads and trends.
In order to ensure that loyalty is absolute, the system imports scab voters and then “disables” them by assuming they are nearly retarded and giving them curved grades and other boosts to help. This creates people who are incompetent but loyal:

Plato described how the problem with democracy was not only that it makes terrible decisions, but that because it both coddles people and requires them to accept an unstable situation as their only option, it slowly drives people insane while making them narcissistic.
If viewed without human emotion, democracy seems like an elaborate form of suicide: give up on yourself to engage in the consensual hallucination of the herd which assumes that the world can be handled through human means of socializing and emoting, thus becoming committed to reality-denial.
We can see “normies” as simply rationalizers of the bourgeois ideal that the citizen owes nothing to anyone but taxes and obedience to the laws, eliminating the need for culture and community. We are all islands in rented homes with zero obligations, in this view.
When we hit the fast-forward button however, it becomes clear that eventually this leads to isolated people with nothing in common, which will produce an outbreak of mental health problems. This only gets worse when democracy inevitably adds socialism and diversity to the mix.

Diversity means several things at once: loss of your culture as it expands to include other cultures, loss of voting majority which means new laws will steal from you, loss of sense of identity because now you are a shopping mall for the world, and loss of genetic integrity as outbreeding replaces you.
No sane person would select it, but democracy always does. Democracy means constant internal struggle for power, which in turn means that people come to hate their society, and therefore choose whatever is most destructive in order to obliterate others in the hope of outlasting them.
The voters cannot connect demographic change to how their society will be altered. Like most humans, they are solipsists and therefore, do not believe that the world will be fundamentally different no matter what they do than it was when they were early teens.
This primal fallacy animates all normie thinking. They are interested ultimately in bourgeois subsidized anarchy to further their own individualism, so they do not think about intangibles like history, continuity, culture, genetics, and purpose. They are hand-to-mouth me-firsters.
