What you could have done, whenever there was dead air, was make out that these were the gaps where Piggott was meant to be talking, had he managed to get his shit together. A guy with too much time on his hands might be tempted to insert clips from his podcast into the dear air in yours.
When you do meet up, you & Cappy should start recording an hour before he arrives, then just as he arrives and joins the show, wrap it up.
