I found the video source of the audio I played in Stating The Obvious 0522.  As someone wrote in the comments of this video – this is not an effective way to promote atheism.

The combination of automated plate readers every 10 yards or so (the distance between one meter and the next) with always-on cameras that feed into an always-watching (and recording) nexus of “private-public” surveillance is bleak, depressing and scary.

Worse, it’s real.

Several states – including New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, West Virginia and Florida have bought in and installed these things in some of their cities. Expect more to follow as the opportunity to take money (everything done by the government is done by force hence the italics) and increase control – things as irresistible to government (and crony capitalist operations such as MPS) as soft wet wood is to termites.

Naturally, it is being done for Our Safety. And “the environment.”

The MPS web site says: “Our meters can be plugged in to your (i.e., the city/county’s) security infrastructure . . .” and then asks: “Wouldn’t it be nice to have a virtual police officer every forty feet on your sidewalks”?

Actually, no. It would not be “nice.”

It is the definition of a police state to have police everywhere – and constantly surveilling the populace. There were “police officers every forty feet” in places such as the former East Germany – and currently in North Korea.

America was once characterized by not having “police officers every forty feet.” Or a “security infrastructure,” for that matter.

It’s almost as if people are the most important thing in life.  Yet no one has ever figured this out.  Gosh-o-golly…

True friends and happiness are among them. In fact, an 80-year-long study at Harvard University claims good pals are the key to a happy life.

Scientists began tracking the health of 268 Harvard sophomores in 1938, and have continued the study over the past eight decades. The original participants included President John F. Kennedy and longtime Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee, according to the Harvard Gazette. The study originally only included men, as Harvard didn’t not admit women at that time, but the ongoing research has expanded, and now includes 1,300 of the original participants offspring. In the 1970s, 456 Boston inner-city residents were also included in the study.

“The surprising finding is that our relationships and how happy we are in our relationships has a powerful influence on our health,” Robert Waldinger, director of the study and a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, told the Harvard Gazette. “Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too. That, I think, is the revelation.” That, he said, is more important than money or fame. “Loneliness kills,” he added. “It’s as powerful as smoking or alcoholism.”

Loreto is, in all likelihood, a rather ordinary person who has embraced extreme beliefs that have led her to thoughts and ideas that are evil. What Loreto’s tweet implies is that if the bus crash involved a team that was comprised of mostly black boys, and 14 of them were crushed, decapitated and cut to ribbons in a bus crash, no one would care. Her mind goes this way because she would not care.

Her tweet implies that if the bus crash involved 14 girls on a ringette trip, no one would care because she wouldn’t care. In actual fact, the death of 14 girls in this manner would be seen as a global tragedy, much like the world views girls kidnapped by Boko Haram, while ignoring the boys who are burned alive. The world cares more about girls and women than it does about men and boys, not less. Not only are her ideas rather despicable, they are also wrong.
