“I should be paid for doing what I enjoy” said every idiot with a liberal arts degree. Wrong. You don’t get paid for doing what you enjoy. You get paid for creating value for other people.
“But my videos do create value for other people” say all the fools on CensorshipTube.
Wrong.
Value is a direct result of three things.
- Time investment by humans.
- Scarcity.
- Being desired by other humans.
The interwebz by virtue of what it is eliminates scarcity. Everything on the interwebz is available almost every place on the planet. Everything on the interwebz can be duplicated endlessly and effortlessly.
Once upon a time there were books. A book is a format for conveying information.
Then came YouTube videos. Your video is a format for conveying information. You video is a book with sound a moving pictures. But it’s still a book.
Every 14 year old girl with a cell phone can make YouTube videos. What you are doing doesn’t have value. That’s reality. How you feel about reality is something both reality and I don’t care about.
Video is experiencing the same changes that photography and graphic design went through.
But wait you cry! “I’m adding value by providing my analysis and wisdom in the video!”
I’ve got some bad news for you snowflake.
Very bad news. We will get to that at the end of the cast.
“Information wants to be free.”
Turns out some people are actually stupid enough to say this.
“There are no gate keepers on the internet.”
Turns out some people are actually stupid enough to say this.
There are gate keepers. And you created them. Google. YouTube. Apple. You did this to yourself. Stop expecting people with jobs to feel sorry for you.
In your quest for free stuff on the interwebz you make your stuff free in the process.
What if you got to view the first 60 seconds of a YouTube video for free then you had to pay $1 for the rest of it?
How many “content creators” (barf) are you paying? Exactly.
Why is YouTube accessing Vid.me?
Remember when you were making fun of Obama because he wanted to be President but he had never had a real job in his life? Now look at you saying you are going to save Western Civilization. But you can’t even get a job.
How the code word for unemployed has changed over the years.
- I am a consultant.
- I am a community organizer.
- I am an independent journalist.
Why your wisdom doesn’t add value to your videos.
You are not smart.
You only seem smart because you are surrounded by stupid people.
You make videos debunking gun control, feminism, diversity and so forth. You may (and often are) right about everything you are saying. But you are not smart.
In Ancapadise no one will make videos debunking gun control, feminism, and diversity because in Ancapadise no one will be stupid enough to endorse such concepts.
In Ancapadise you will not be smart. You will be normal. You appear to be smart only because “normal” in the United States is actually “fucking retarded”.
You have done no philosophical heavy lifting. You have not generated any ideas that have not been though of before.
I came up with the principle that Statism is rooted in fear. I also came up with the Illusion of Infinity.
What philosophical idea have you arrived at that no one else has ever thought of?
Making a video in which you assert “feminists are poo-poo heads” is not philosophical heavy lifting. It is true. But it’s not worth money.
Last week the content creator community of YouTube went into full sperg mode when they found out YouTube was demonetizing their videos, among other things such as throttling traffic, taking away subscribers, and other behind the scenes digital media hanky panky. Amazon affiliates were also treated to similar news as they heard Amazon was lowering the commission they’d make from around 6% to 2-5% on various products. But regardless of which company was doing what, the result was the same – it was increasingly harder, if not impossible, for people to make a living on YouTube or Amazon affiliate.
Naturally, taking away someone’s livelihood, especially one as easy, fun, and passionate as being a YouTube celebrity or an Amazon affiliate salesman, is a huge blow. Amazon and YouTube have served as a godsend to many people during the non-recovery from the Great Recession, not to mention provided some much-needed income to impoverished Millennials battled their way out of worthless-degree student loan debt. But as bad news as this is for the thousands, likely, millions of people who derive some kind of income from this new economy, there’s some vital economic lessons to learn from this “YouTube/Amazon” bubble bursting. Because if you don’t learn these vital economic lessons, you’re life is going to be infinitely worse going forward.
