A discussion about the book Against Football, One Fan’s Reluctant Manifesto by Steve Almond.
I take a detour in this episode. That means there will be a part 4.
I explain something very important which I’ll talk about more in the future.
The market and capitalism. The State and democracy.
In some ways they are alike. Both can be said to reflect the will of the people.
Yet they are different in an important way.
The market and capitalism have feedback mechanisms. Accountability. Success and failure. Dare I call it what it is? Natural selection. Failure is not an option is you want to survive.
The State and democracy have no feedback mechanisms. No accountability. No politician, soldier, bureaucrat or police officer is ever held accountable for their actions. Failure is not only an option – it’s the most likely outcome.
